This site is for those interested in winter (and other seasonal) activites in the northern Michigan
area. Whether you're a snowmobiler, skier, snowshoer, dogsledder, hiker, or just enjoy being
north, this site is intended for you.
The camera is near Bear Lake, between Grayling and Kalkaska and reflects conditions on
an hour-to-hour basis. This location is on the southern fringe of the "blue-bear" snow belt.
As a general rule of thumb, snowfall and snow depths just a few miles north of here (Twin Lakes
and Starvation Lake area) are better, sometimes much better, due to the slightly higher altitude
and lake effect snow.
Just a note, for those in the Bear Lake area, Bear's Lair makes a mean
pizza, excellent breadsticks, buffalo wings and more. Their store, deli and gas station is a treat
to visit. They're wonderful folks that provide
hospitality just like I remember from my childhood. They are located just east of the
Blue-Bear trailhead on M-72 near Bear Lake. Their phone number is 231-258-8809. Tell 'em Tate
sent ya.
Thanks for visiting,
Lana & Bill, Tate & Dr. Rafida, Dave & Ryan, Hare & Lee, Mike & Pam, Matt & Dawn, Brad & Laura, Bubba & Pam, Otto, Dan & the other "usual termite suspects".
